Working in Qatar

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, construction, facilities management, healthcare, retail and energy continue to provide opportunities for skilled international workers. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a large expatriate population; modest dress, respectful behavior and sensitivity during Ramadan are important. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, desert activities, restaurants and an increasingly active social scene, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally arrange a work visa and residence permit after hiring, with medical checks and document attestation commonly required. Confirm whether the contract includes accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, annual leave and airfare. Relocation is generally straightforward with employer support, but accommodation costs can be high if housing is not provided. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in workplaces and daily life.
