Working in Australia

Australia offers hospitality, tourism, transport and seasonal work in cities, coastal destinations and regional areas such as the Hunter Valley. The culture is generally informal, multicultural and practical, with strong expectations around workplace safety, punctuality and respectful customer service. Lifestyle varies from city living to quieter regional communities, with beaches, national parks, wine regions and outdoor recreation widely accessible. For eligible young travellers, the Working Holiday Maker visa can allow temporary work, while skilled, sponsored and student visas may suit longer-term relocation; requirements depend on nationality, qualifications and occupation. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, a tax file number, Australian bank account, health cover and a valid driving licence. A foreign licence may need translation or conversion, and passenger-transport rules can vary by state. Living costs can be high, although regional locations may offer lower rent than major cities and a calmer lifestyle.
