The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive supports the planning, coordination and reporting of sustainability, community engagement and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in communications, sustainability, hospitality, business or a related field, along with strong organisation, writing and presentation skills. Experience coordinating events, volunteering programmes, environmental projects or stakeholder communications is advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to work independently, maintain accurate records, prepare reports, engage employees and community partners, and promote Shangri-La’s sustainability standards. The role also requires initiative, professionalism, cultural awareness and the flexibility to support projects across hotel departments during the contract period.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for personalised service, quality accommodation, dining, wellness and memorable guest experiences. Shangri-La properties generally place strong emphasis on employee development, responsible tourism, environmental stewardship and community engagement. In Malaysia, the company operates prominent hotels and resorts in locations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Its corporate social sustainability work commonly covers environmental conservation, resource efficiency, community partnerships, employee volunteering and initiatives supporting local wellbeing. Employees join a multicultural hospitality environment where teamwork, service excellence and respect for local communities are important parts of daily operations.
Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, events, education, technology and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Island living can provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and close-knit communities, although public transport, healthcare and housing options may be more limited outside major cities. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business and tourism. Salaries vary considerably by location and experience, while accommodation and transport should be checked carefully before relocating. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval dependent on the role, salary and immigration requirements. A valid passport, employment contract and relevant qualifications are normally required. Candidates should confirm visa processing, tax obligations, medical coverage and any accommodation support directly with Shangri-La before accepting a contract.
