The Executive Chef leads all culinary operations, including restaurants, banquets, room service, menu development, food quality, hygiene, purchasing and kitchen budgets. Candidates should have extensive experience as an Executive Chef or senior Sous Chef in a luxury hotel or resort, strong knowledge of international and local Indonesian cuisine, and a record of managing multicultural teams. Formal culinary training, excellent food-safety awareness, cost-control skills and familiarity with hotel operating systems are expected. Shangri-La will typically seek a creative, commercially minded leader who can maintain high standards, coach employees, work effectively with suppliers and deliver memorable guest experiences while meeting financial targets.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive properties in major cities and resort destinations. Its hotels offer accommodation, restaurants, bars, spas, meeting facilities and leisure experiences for business and holiday travelers. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, sustainability and cultural sensitivity. In Indonesia, the group has operated premium properties serving both international visitors and domestic guests. Employees generally work in structured, multicultural environments with opportunities to develop careers across departments and countries within the wider Shangri-La network.
Indonesia offers opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra and other islands, particularly in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, wellness, tourism and event management. Bali is the most established international hospitality market, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger corporate and city-hotel opportunities. Life can combine a relaxed outdoor lifestyle with busy peak seasons, tropical weather, traffic and varied infrastructure. Indonesian culture values hospitality, family, religious traditions and respectful communication; English is common in international resorts, but basic Bahasa Indonesia is helpful. Foreign hires normally require employer sponsorship for the appropriate work and stay permits, with the company handling applications and compliance. Candidates should confirm visa conditions, tax treatment, accommodation, medical insurance, flights and service-charge arrangements before accepting. Relocation planning should include housing, schooling if relevant, healthcare access and local transport. Indonesia's cost of living varies considerably, with resort areas often more expensive than regional towns.
