About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for its Asian-inspired service, refined hotels and resorts, and strong emphasis on guest care. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. In Hong Kong, Shangri-La’s portfolio includes Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La, both serving leisure travelers, business guests, groups and high-end events. The company provides opportunities across hotel operations, sales, food and beverage, finance, engineering and leadership. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate warm hospitality, cultural awareness, discretion and consistent service standards. A Sales Executive may work closely with corporate accounts, travel agencies, event planners and internal hotel departments to build business and support occupancy and revenue goals.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, retail, technology and international business. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and cuisine with a highly international lifestyle. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, dense urban neighborhoods, shopping, nightlife, hiking trails, beaches and easy access to nearby islands and mainland China. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or choose areas outside Central, such as Kowloon or the New Territories. English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and customer-facing roles; Mandarin is also useful. Foreign professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with approval depending on qualifications, experience, salary and the role’s business need. Relocating employees should budget for rent deposits, insurance, transport and visa processing, and confirm tax, accommodation and onboarding arrangements before arrival.
