Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state and a major centre for hospitality, finance, technology, logistics and tourism. Hotels, restaurants, resorts, clubs and event venues regularly offer opportunities for chefs, service professionals, engineers, managers and other skilled workers. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, safe and efficient, with excellent public transport, healthcare and dining, although housing and everyday costs can be high. Singapore has a tropical climate, so newcomers should expect heat, humidity and frequent rain. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers normally handle the application, while approval is subject to government requirements. Candidates should confirm accommodation, insurance, taxes and relocation support before accepting an offer.
