The Security Officer is responsible for protecting guests, colleagues, hotel property and facilities at Shangri-La in Hong Kong. Typical duties include patrolling the premises, monitoring CCTV and access points, responding to incidents, assisting with emergencies, preparing reports and enforcing hotel security procedures. Candidates should have relevant hotel, commercial or security experience, good communication skills, sound judgment and a professional appearance. A valid Hong Kong security personnel permit or the ability to obtain one is normally required. First-aid, fire-safety and customer-service knowledge are advantageous. The role requires integrity, alertness, physical fitness, discretion and flexibility to work rotating shifts, overnight duties, weekends and public holidays.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and premium guest experiences. Its Hong Kong properties include Island Shangri-La, Kowloon Shangri-La and Kerry Hotel, serving business travellers, leisure guests, local residents and event clients. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured operating procedures, training opportunities and strong emphasis on guest care, safety and professionalism. Hotel security teams support smooth daily operations by protecting people and assets while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and may include staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, service charge, training and employee accommodation or travel-related privileges.
Hong Kong is a compact, international city with excellent opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hotel employees can enjoy a multicultural workplace, efficient public transport, diverse dining, hiking trails, beaches and lively neighbourhoods. Cantonese is the local language, while English is widely used in hotels and business; Mandarin is also valuable. Accommodation is expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in central Kowloon, so many workers share flats or live in districts with convenient transport. Overseas employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly under the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Employers usually provide supporting documents, but approval is handled by Hong Kong Immigration. New arrivals should budget for a rental deposit, transportation, healthcare and daily expenses. Hong Kong offers a fast-paced lifestyle, strong career exposure and easy access to regional travel.
