Mandarin is often advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to remain calm under pressure, work shifts including weekends and public holidays, protect guest confidentiality and consistently deliver Shangri-La’s service standards. Previous hotel experience and familiarity with telephone or property-management systems would be an advantage.

Its properties typically offer accommodation, restaurants, conference facilities, wellness services and business amenities. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest care, professionalism, teamwork and employee development. Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, aviation, tourism and international business. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and food with a highly global, fast-paced working environment. Life is convenient but busy: public transport is excellent, housing is expensive, and popular areas include Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. English is widely used in hotels and offices, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and customer-facing roles; Mandarin can also help. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, with approval depending on qualifications, experience, salary and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating, arrange accommodation and insurance, and check visa, tax and dependent requirements with Hong Kong authorities or the employer.
