Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a dense, energetic international city spread across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and abundant hospitality, retail, finance, technology, and education opportunities. Hotel and restaurant work is concentrated in areas such as Central, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, and the airport district. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; dining, festivals, hiking, beaches, and efficient city life are major attractions. Housing can be expensive, so employer accommodation or a realistic relocation budget is important. Most foreign workers need an employment visa arranged with an approved sponsor before starting work, while residents of some countries may visit visa-free but cannot work. Applicants should confirm contract terms, working hours, medical requirements, insurance, and visa eligibility directly with Shangri-La and Hong Kong Immigration.
