The group is known for Asian-inspired hospitality, attentive service and strong resort operations. In Penang, Shangri-La operates the beachfront Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa and the family-oriented Golden Sands Resort, both located in Batu Ferringhi. The properties serve leisure travellers, families, groups, weddings and business guests, and depend on well-maintained facilities, landscaped grounds and extensive guest amenities. Engineering leaders in its resorts work closely with operations, safety, finance and external authorities to protect guest comfort, property standards and business continuity.

Working in Malaysia

Penang Island is a popular Malaysian destination combining beaches, heritage, food and a lively urban lifestyle. Batu Ferringhi offers resort-based opportunities in engineering, hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa services, events and guest relations, while George Town has broader openings in tourism, technology, education, healthcare and commerce. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Peranakan traditions, with festivals, temples, mosques and renowned street food. Living costs are generally moderate, although beachfront housing is higher. Malaysia has tropical weather, good transport links and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and immigration procedures; dependants may require separate passes. Candidates should confirm eligibility, salary, accommodation, tax treatment and relocation support before accepting an offer.
