Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and serviced apartments across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The brand is known for personalised Asian-inspired hospitality, comfortable accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and attentive guest service. Shangri-La Hotel Singapore is located near Orchard Road and serves both leisure and business travellers, offering rooms, suites, dining venues, meeting facilities and recreational amenities. Employees generally work in a service-focused, multicultural environment where grooming, courtesy, teamwork and attention to detail are important. The company provides opportunities across hotel operations, including reservations, front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, sales and administration, although salary and benefits depend on the specific property, position and employment terms.
Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food and many shopping and entertainment options. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, so newcomers often compare shared apartments, staff accommodation and locations near MRT stations. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, contract terms, working hours, benefits and accommodation support before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and budgeting for daily living costs are important.
