The Sales & Marketing Coordinator supports the hotel’s commercial team with sales administration, marketing campaigns, client communication, event coordination, database management, reports and promotional materials. Candidates should generally have a diploma or degree in marketing, business, hospitality or a related field, along with strong organisation, communication and computer skills. Previous experience in hotel sales, marketing or administration is preferred. The role requires a professional manner, attention to detail, good English, teamwork and the ability to manage deadlines. The successful candidate is expected to assist with corporate accounts, travel partners, social media or promotional activities, maintain accurate records and represent Shangri-La professionally when dealing with guests and business partners.
Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Singapore, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive properties in city and resort destinations. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-established hotels and resorts, including properties in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Its teams work across accommodation, dining, events, wellness and commercial services, serving leisure travellers, corporate clients and groups. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with opportunities to develop hospitality, sales and leadership skills. A Sales & Marketing Coordinator would support business generation, guest engagement and brand promotion while helping the property maintain strong relationships with companies, agencies, event organisers and travel partners.
Malaysia offers diverse island destinations and hospitality opportunities, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Redang, Perhentian, Tioman and Sabah’s islands. Jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving, watersports, guest services, sales, events and wellness. Island life is generally relaxed and community-oriented, with a multicultural society influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions. English is widely used in tourism, while Malay is the national language. Lifestyle costs vary: accommodation and transport may be more expensive on remote islands, although daily life can be affordable. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and should secure approval before starting work. Employers may assist with permits, accommodation and relocation, but arrangements differ. Candidates should check seasonal hiring patterns, transport links, healthcare access and monsoon closures before relocating. Mainland cities may offer more stable year-round employment and services.
