The company is known for personalised Asian-inspired service, premium accommodation, restaurants, meetings and events, wellness facilities and destination experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates established properties in locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Rasa Sayang, serving leisure travellers, corporate clients and large events. Employees generally work in a service-focused, multicultural environment where guest care, teamwork, professional presentation and commercial performance are valued. Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, convention venues, restaurants, tourism and event management, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hospitality workplaces. Island living can provide beaches, diving, outdoor activities and a relaxed lifestyle, although imported goods, transport and housing may cost more in resort areas. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through the relevant Malaysian immigration process; working before approval is not permitted. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, medical cover, tax, transport, contract terms and whether flights or settling-in support are provided. Malaysia has warm, humid weather year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast, so professional clothing, reliable transport and tolerance for busy peak seasons are useful.
