Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact international city with a strong hospitality, tourism, retail and business economy. Hotel jobs are available in housekeeping, laundry, food and beverage, front office, culinary operations, engineering, events and guest services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; courtesy, punctuality and efficient service are highly valued. Living costs, especially rent, are high, although public transport is excellent and staff accommodation or allowances may be offered by some hotels. Hong Kong has busy urban districts, hiking trails, beaches, islands and a diverse dining scene. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by an approved employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Applicants should secure a written offer before relocating, check contract benefits, arrange housing and understand tax, insurance and immigration obligations. Cantonese is useful, while English is widely used in hotels.
