About the employer

Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is recognised for personalised service, high-quality facilities and its welcoming Asian-inspired approach to hospitality. Shangri-La properties typically include accommodation, restaurants, meetings and events, wellness facilities and extensive guest services. In Malaysia, the group has established properties serving both leisure and business travellers. Employees generally work in a structured, multicultural environment with opportunities for professional development, internal mobility and exposure to international hotel standards. Procurement teams play an important role in maintaining product quality, managing operating costs and supporting sustainable relationships with local and regional suppliers.

Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, logistics and corporate services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Langkawi is known for beaches, nature and resort employment, while Penang combines heritage, food culture and a more urban lifestyle. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business and hospitality. Living costs are generally moderate, although resort islands can be more expensive and less convenient than major cities. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work. Relocating staff should confirm accommodation, transport, healthcare, tax registration and dependent-pass arrangements. Malaysia has a warm tropical climate, excellent local food and strong outdoor tourism, but island life may involve limited shopping, healthcare and international travel connections.
