Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates, rather than an island, offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, events and business services. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main employment centers, while Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah also have growing hotel markets. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of Islamic holidays are important. Lifestyle options range from beaches and desert activities to shopping, dining and cultural attractions. Employers commonly arrange work permits and residence visas, with medical checks and Emirates ID registration required. UAE Nationals may receive additional development and employment support under Emiratisation initiatives. Relocating employees should confirm housing, transport, insurance, airfare and other benefits before accepting an offer. Living costs, particularly rent, vary considerably by emirate.
