About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Founded in 1971, the group is known for high-quality service, Asian-inspired hospitality and its Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders brands. Its portfolio includes urban hotels, beach resorts and mixed-use developments, supported by corporate teams in areas such as legal, finance, technology, commercial strategy and human resources. Shangri-La promotes warm, personalized guest service and operates in a multicultural environment. A Hong Kong-based legal counsel would likely support group-level business activities, manage disputes and advise stakeholders across several jurisdictions and hotel operations.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact international business hub with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, professional services, property and legal work. Although commonly described as an island city, it includes Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, along with many outlying islands. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, hiking trails and beaches, though housing can be expensive. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, commonly through the General Employment Policy, subject to qualifications and a confirmed offer. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking and tax registration, and budget for a high cost of living.
