Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers coastal city living, beaches and several resort islands, including Yas Island, Saadiyat Island and Palm Jumeirah. Hospitality, tourism, events, retail, aviation and entertainment provide strong employment opportunities, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress and respect for local customs are appreciated. Lifestyle options range from luxury dining and shopping to desert trips, water sports and cultural attractions. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are comfortable and popular for outdoor activities. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa, work permit and medical screening. Employers often assist with visas and may provide accommodation, transport, insurance or annual flights, although benefits vary. Employees should confirm contract terms, probation, working hours and accommodation before relocating.
