About the employer

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts, and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The company is known for its Asian-inspired service culture, upscale accommodation, dining, wellness, recreation, and conference facilities. In the Philippines, Shangri-La operates major properties including Shangri-La The Fort in Manila and island or resort destinations such as Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu. Employees typically work in a guest-focused environment where courtesy, teamwork, presentation, safety, and consistent service standards are highly valued. Depending on the property, staff benefits may include meals, uniforms, training, healthcare support, service charge, accommodation assistance, or transportation arrangements.

Working in Philippines

The Philippines offers hospitality opportunities across Luzon, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, and Mindanao, particularly in resorts, hotels, restaurants, wellness, diving, and guest activities. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented, sociable, and strongly service minded; English is widely used in workplaces. Island living can provide beaches, outdoor sports, a relaxed lifestyle, and lower daily costs than many international destinations, although transport, healthcare, internet, and housing vary by location. Employees should budget for seasonal weather, including typhoons in some regions. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa or immigration approval before working legally; requirements can change, so confirmation with the employer and Philippine authorities is essential. Local applicants should prepare government identification, certificates, references, and any first-aid or recreation qualifications.
