About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group originating in Asia and operating hotels, resorts and residences across major destinations worldwide. The brand is known for warm Asian-inspired hospitality, high service standards, premium accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and extensive meeting and event services. Its Indonesian operations serve both leisure and business travellers, with properties positioned in important commercial and resort markets. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, cultural understanding and long-term client relationships. A Senior Sales Manager in the MICE segment would typically work with corporations, professional conference organisers, destination management companies and event agencies to bring meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions to the hotel. The role combines strategic account management with hands-on sales activity and close coordination with hotel operations.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel sales, events, food and beverage, tourism, digital services and international business. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s main commercial centre and usually provides the broadest corporate and MICE market. Bali offers a more resort-focused lifestyle, while destinations such as Lombok, Batam and the Riau Islands provide growing tourism opportunities. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, personal relationships and religious diversity; respectful dress and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle can range from busy urban living and traffic in Jakarta to a slower, outdoor-oriented pace on resort islands. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and KITAS or related immigration approval before starting work. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but requirements can change, so candidates should confirm current rules with Shangri-La and Indonesian immigration authorities. Housing, healthcare, transport and flights should be discussed during relocation negotiations.
