The Manager, Corporate and Marketing Communications will develop and deliver communications strategies supporting Shangri-La’s corporate reputation, hotels, brands, and marketing initiatives in Hong Kong. Requirements typically include a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related discipline, with several years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, content development, or hospitality marketing. Strong writing, editing, presentation, project-management, and stakeholder-management skills are expected. The successful candidate should be commercially aware, creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines. Experience working with senior executives, media contacts, agencies, digital channels, and issues or crisis communications would be valuable. Fluency in English is essential; Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be advantageous.
Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN, and Traders brands, together with a reputation for Asian-inspired hospitality and attentive service. The group employs colleagues across hotels, corporate offices, food and beverage operations, wellness facilities, and supporting functions. In Hong Kong, Shangri-La properties serve luxury leisure travellers, business guests, groups, and major events. The company generally offers opportunities in hotel operations, sales and marketing, communications, finance, human resources, engineering, food and beverage, and guest services. Benefits may include staff accommodation or housing support in some locations, meals, medical coverage, discounts, training, and career mobility, although packages vary by property and employment level.
Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city and territory with a sophisticated business environment, excellent public transport, and a strong hospitality and tourism sector. Opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, retail, finance, technology, and communications, with international brands concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and airport-linked areas. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; workplace communication is commonly conducted in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin depending on the role. Residents enjoy dense urban neighbourhoods, excellent food, shopping, arts, hiking trails, beaches, and easy access to outlying islands. Housing is expensive, so salary, location, and any allowance should be assessed carefully. Most overseas professionals require an employment visa sponsored by the employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, with proof of qualifications, a genuine job offer, and appropriate salary. Relocating employees should arrange housing, medical insurance, banking, and tax advice before arrival.
