The Assistant Manager, Brands (Strategy & Guardianship) supports Shangri-La’s brand strategy, positioning, standards and long-term development across markets. Typical requirements include a degree in marketing, business, hospitality or a related field, relevant experience in brand management, marketing or strategic planning, and strong project-management, research, presentation and communication skills. The candidate is expected to protect brand identity, coordinate with regional and property teams, monitor market trends and competitors, and help ensure consistent guest-facing standards. Experience in hospitality, luxury brands or an international organisation is advantageous. Fluency in English is generally expected, while Cantonese or Mandarin may be beneficial for a Hong Kong-based role.
Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired approach to service. The group operates properties under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders, serving business and leisure travellers in major cities and resort destinations worldwide. Its operations cover accommodation, restaurants and bars, meetings and events, wellness, and other guest services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on warm hospitality, employee development, responsible business practices and consistent brand standards across its international portfolio. The Hong Kong headquarters supports corporate functions such as brand strategy, commercial planning, finance, technology and operations. This role would typically work with cross-functional and regional teams to strengthen brand relevance, protect brand guidelines and support the group’s long-term competitive position.
Hong Kong is a fast-paced international city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, luxury retail, finance, technology, marketing and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; respectful communication, punctuality and adaptability are valued in the workplace. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts, shopping and dining to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and many customer-facing roles; Mandarin can also help. Most overseas professionals need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, and applicants must normally show relevant qualifications, experience and a genuine job offer. Dependants may usually apply for related visas. Employees should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking and tax registration after arrival. Rent is high, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many newcomers compare housing in the New Territories and nearby districts.
