The Security Manager or Assistant Security Manager is responsible for protecting guests, colleagues, hotel property and business operations. Requirements typically include relevant hotel, security, law-enforcement or military experience, strong incident-reporting and investigation skills, knowledge of emergency procedures, and good spoken English and Cantonese; Mandarin is advantageous. The successful candidate should be observant, calm under pressure, physically fit, discreet and able to lead a multicultural team. Responsibilities may include coordinating daily security operations, monitoring CCTV and access control, responding to emergencies, conducting risk assessments, training employees, liaising with police and emergency services, and ensuring compliance with Shangri-La standards and Hong Kong regulations. Shift work, weekends and public holidays are normally required.
Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and other properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The group is recognised for personalised service, comfortable accommodation, premium dining and wellness facilities, and its long-standing tradition of Asian-inspired hospitality. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts employs colleagues in a wide range of operational, commercial and corporate roles, with emphasis on guest experience, service quality, integrity and professional development. Its Hong Kong properties serve international business travellers, leisure guests, local residents and major events. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment with structured hotel procedures, high presentation standards and opportunities to develop within the wider group.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas, with additional opportunities at Hong Kong International Airport and Disneyland. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, fast-paced city life and excellent food. Accommodation is expensive, but public transport is efficient, reliable and extensive. Employees should expect long working hours in hospitality and a high cost of living, particularly for housing. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer, commonly under the General Employment Policy; applicants need suitable qualifications or experience and a confirmed job offer. Dependants may usually apply to join approved visa holders. Before relocating, arrange housing, health coverage, banking and document authentication, and confirm whether the employer provides meals, accommodation, transport or relocation assistance.
