Shangri-La places strong emphasis on personalised service, Asian hospitality and attention to detail. Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and tourism. The city is fast-paced and international, with Cantonese as the main local language and English widely used in business and hospitality. Life is convenient but accommodation can be expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon; many workers live in the New Territories or share apartments. Public transport is excellent, with the MTR, buses and ferries connecting the city and outlying islands. Employees can enjoy varied food, hiking trails, beaches, cultural festivals and a lively urban lifestyle. Foreign workers generally need an approved employment visa before starting work, and the employer usually sponsors the application. Applicants must meet immigration requirements and should not work outside their approved conditions. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, transport, healthcare and initial living expenses, and confirm housing, insurance, working hours and benefits with the employer.
