Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, and other tourist islands, particularly in hotels, resorts, residences, restaurants, wellness, diving, and events. Bali is the most international market, with strong demand in Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Ubud, and Canggu, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide larger urban employment markets. Local culture values courtesy, community, modesty, and respect for religious traditions; workplace customs can vary between regions. Lifestyle options range from beaches and outdoor activities to busy cities, although traffic, humidity, seasonal tourism, and living costs should be considered. Foreign nationals normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate Indonesian work and stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm visa, tax, health insurance, accommodation, and relocation arrangements directly with the employer before accepting an offer. Basic Bahasa Indonesia is useful for daily life and guest interaction.
