Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within an upscale or international hotel is preferred. Flexibility, good communication, reliability and the ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays are essential.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for Asian-inspired service, warm guest care and high-quality resorts and hotels. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations, including hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on personalized service, employee development, cultural awareness and responsible business practices. Its Malaysian properties serve both international visitors and domestic travelers, offering accommodation, restaurants, leisure facilities, meetings and events. Working for Shangri-La generally involves maintaining detailed brand standards while creating a welcoming and genuine guest experience. Employees are expected to demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, discretion and consistent attention to detail in a multicultural environment.
Malaysia offers hotel and resort opportunities on Langkawi, Penang, Borneo and coastal destinations such as Kota Kinabalu and Desaru. Housekeeping professionals can find roles in luxury resorts, city hotels, serviced apartments and tourism operations, with stronger seasonal demand during school holidays and peak travel periods. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in hospitality workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from relaxed beach living to busy urban environments, and costs vary considerably by destination. Foreign employees normally require an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer; approval depends on qualifications, salary, occupation and current immigration rules. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, contract terms and relocation support before accepting an offer. Langkawi and Sabah may appeal to those seeking resort living, while Kuala Lumpur and Penang provide broader professional and lifestyle options.
