Shangri-La is a global luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties are recognized for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and attention to personal guest experiences. In the United Arab Emirates, Shangri-La operates luxury hotels and resorts serving leisure travelers, business guests, weddings and corporate events. Employees typically work in multicultural teams and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, attention to detail and genuine care for guests. The company offers opportunities across hotel operations, culinary services, guest relations, engineering, sales and support departments. Benefits for overseas hires may include accommodation or a housing allowance, transportation, meals, medical insurance, annual leave and return airfare, depending on the position and employment package.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. It offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, retail, aviation, construction, technology and healthcare. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Life can be modern and convenient, with excellent shopping, beaches, dining and public transport, although housing and leisure costs can be high. Most expatriates work under an employer-sponsored residence visa. The employer normally arranges the work permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residence processing. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave, probation terms and airfare before accepting an offer. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are busy and cosmopolitan, while smaller emirates generally offer a quieter and less expensive lifestyle.
