The Steam Press Operator is responsible for pressing, finishing and preparing guest-room linen, uniforms and hotel garments to Shangri-La’s quality standards. Requirements typically include previous laundry, garment-care or hotel housekeeping experience, knowledge of steam-pressing equipment, attention to detail, physical stamina and the ability to work safely around heat and machinery. The successful candidate should be reliable, well organised and able to maintain consistent productivity during busy periods. Basic communication skills, teamwork and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays are expected. Training may be provided, but familiarity with fabric types, stain awareness and safe equipment handling would be advantageous.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is recognised for personalised service, refined accommodation, dining, wellness facilities and a strong emphasis on Asian hospitality. Shangri-La hotels employ teams across front office, housekeeping, laundry, food and beverage, engineering, finance and guest services. Its Hong Kong properties are established luxury hotels serving international travellers, business guests, local residents and major events. Employees generally work in a structured, service-focused environment with operational training and opportunities to develop within the wider hotel group. Benefits for eligible roles may include staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, paid leave and employee accommodation or transport arrangements, although exact benefits depend on the property, contract and position.
Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with numerous outlying islands. Hospitality, retail, finance, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services provide major employment opportunities, while luxury hotels regularly recruit overseas and local staff. Cantonese is the main local language; English is widely used in business and hotels, and Mandarin is common. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and diverse food. Rents are high, so candidates should confirm accommodation, meals, transport and working-hour arrangements before accepting an offer. Foreign employees generally need an appropriate employment visa sponsored by the employer, usually supported by a genuine job offer and relevant qualifications or experience. Applicants should verify visa rules with Hong Kong Immigration. Relocation costs, deposits and health insurance should also be budgeted.
