Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with strong opportunities in aviation, food manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, technology, finance and regional corporate services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful, with an emphasis on punctuality, performance and workplace professionalism. Lifestyle options range from hawker centres and shopping districts to beaches, parks, museums and an active international community. Public transport is reliable, and most areas are accessible by MRT or bus, although housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary and qualification requirements; other work-pass options may apply depending on the role. Candidates should arrange housing, healthcare coverage, banking and tax registration before or shortly after arrival.
