Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in aviation, logistics, finance, technology, healthcare, hospitality, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, and other languages reflect its multicultural society. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, modern housing, diverse food, shopping, parks, and a generally safe urban lifestyle, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Employment usually requires an employer-sponsored work pass. Professionals commonly use the Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications, and eligibility requirements; other work-pass options may apply depending on the role and salary. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the employer’s sponsorship policy, pass eligibility, housing budget, healthcare arrangements, tax obligations, and dependent options. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Areas near MRT stations are convenient for commuting, while suburbs may offer better value and more space.
