Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in aviation, logistics, engineering, technology, finance, healthcare, hospitality and advanced manufacturing. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture combines international business standards with local food, festivals and neighbourhood communities. Public transport is efficient, reliable and extensive, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Popular residential areas include the East Coast, Queenstown, Jurong East and Woodlands. Foreign interns may need a Training Employment Pass or another work-authorised pass arranged by the employer; eligibility depends on nationality, institution and programme details. Professionals usually require an Employment Pass or S Pass. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, insurance and deposits, and check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before relocating.
