Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, finance, technology, hospitality, healthcare, and sustainability. Its multicultural population contributes to a professional environment where English is widely used, alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. The lifestyle is convenient and urban, with efficient public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks, and easy access to regional travel. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, though public housing and shared accommodation provide more affordable options. International students and professionals should check eligibility before accepting work; internships may require an appropriate training or work pass, while full-time employees commonly use an Employment Pass or S Pass sponsored by the employer. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking, and transport cards. Singapore is generally safe, clean, and well regulated, but newcomers should budget carefully for rent and daily expenses.
