Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, technology, finance, healthcare, hospitality, and advanced manufacturing. Changi Airport and the wider aviation sector employ people in ground handling, cargo, engineering, customer service, security, and airline operations. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The lifestyle is convenient and urban, with reliable public transport, modern housing, diverse food, shopping, parks, and warm weather throughout the year. Living costs can be high, particularly for rent, so interns and newcomers often share accommodation or choose locations near MRT lines. Foreign interns generally need an appropriate work pass arranged with the employer; eligibility depends on nationality, education, salary, and programme type. Before relocating, confirm visa requirements, accommodation, insurance, transport costs, and shift arrangements, especially for airport roles that may involve early mornings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
