Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in logistics, aviation, manufacturing, technology, shared services, tourism and regional supply-chain management. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor are the main employment centers, while Penang and Johor also have strong industrial and logistics markets. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular islands are more expensive. Public transport is strongest in major cities; owning a car is useful elsewhere. Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak provide beaches, nature and distinctive local cultures. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through Malaysian authorities. Candidates should confirm eligibility, health requirements, tax obligations and dependent arrangements before relocating. Housing, schooling and international medical insurance should be researched in advance.
