Malaysia offers career opportunities in technology, logistics, shared services, manufacturing, finance, tourism and e-commerce. Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley are the main employment centres, while Penang, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak also have growing industries. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with a diverse food scene and generally welcoming social culture. Lifestyle costs are moderate by international standards, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular island destinations can be more expensive. Malaysia includes Peninsular Malaysia and the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as attractive islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and Perhentian. Employees usually need an employment pass sponsored by the company; working before approval is not permitted. Relocating candidates should arrange housing, health insurance, banking and tax registration, and check current immigration rules before travel.
