Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and a major Asian hub for logistics, aviation, healthcare, technology, finance and regional headquarters. Job opportunities are strongest for professionals with international experience, specialist knowledge and strong English skills; Mandarin or other Asian languages may be useful. The culture is multicultural, orderly and business-focused, with influences from Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, green spaces and easy access to neighbouring countries. Housing, childcare and dining can be expensive, especially in central areas, although public transport is affordable. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, commonly an Employment Pass, subject to current salary and eligibility rules. Relocating usually involves securing an offer, arranging the pass, finding accommodation and obtaining health insurance. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
