The Bid Excellence Specialist supports DHL’s tender and proposal activity, helping create persuasive, accurate and commercially sound bids for customers. Typical requirements include experience in bid management, proposal writing, sales support, or commercial operations; strong written and verbal communication; excellent organisation; attention to detail; and confidence coordinating input from sales, operations, finance and subject-matter experts. The candidate is expected to manage deadlines, maintain bid standards, understand customer requirements, contribute to win strategies, and present information clearly. Experience with logistics, supply chain, transportation, procurement or large corporate tenders would be advantageous. The role also requires commercial awareness, stakeholder-management skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
DHL is a global logistics and supply chain company operating across express delivery, freight transportation, contract logistics, e-commerce and business services. It is part of DHL Group and serves customers ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations. In the United Kingdom, DHL has a substantial presence across parcel delivery, international express, freight forwarding, warehousing, fulfilment and supply chain management. The organisation is known for its international network, structured operating processes and focus on customer service, efficiency and innovation. DHL also invests in digital logistics, sustainability initiatives and technology-enabled supply chain solutions. Employees typically work in collaborative, performance-focused teams and may interact with customers and colleagues across multiple countries. Benefits and working arrangements vary by business division and position, but commonly include pension contributions, holiday entitlement, training and development opportunities, and employee wellbeing support.
The United Kingdom offers opportunities in logistics, transport, supply chain, technology, finance, healthcare, engineering and professional services. Major employment centres include London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow and Belfast, with logistics roles also concentrated near ports, airports and distribution hubs. British culture is generally polite, diverse and informal at work, while punctuality, privacy and clear communication are valued. Lifestyle options range from busy city living to quieter coastal and rural communities, although housing and transport costs vary considerably. Non-UK nationals usually need permission to work before starting employment. Depending on the role, this may involve a Skilled Worker visa with an approved sponsor, an eligible occupation and required salary and English-language criteria. Candidates should check current UK government rules and DHL’s sponsorship policy. Relocation planning should include accommodation, National Insurance, banking, healthcare registration, taxation and commuting costs.
