This internship is suited to an undergraduate or recent graduate interested in apparel manufacturing and factory operations. Typical requirements include studying industrial engineering, production management, manufacturing, textiles, or a related discipline, along with basic computer skills, analytical ability, and good communication in English. The intern may support production planning, line monitoring, efficiency tracking, documentation, quality coordination, and continuous-improvement activities. MAS Holdings will expect a proactive, disciplined, and adaptable candidate who can work on the factory floor, follow health and safety procedures, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and production teams. Willingness to learn manufacturing systems and work flexible hours may also be important.
MAS Holdings is one of South Asia’s largest apparel and textile manufacturers, headquartered in Sri Lanka. The group supplies innovative clothing, sportswear, intimate apparel, swimwear, and performance products to leading international brands. Its operations span design, product development, manufacturing, logistics, and technology, with facilities across Sri Lanka and several overseas markets. MAS is known for its emphasis on innovation, ethical manufacturing, sustainability, employee development, and close partnerships with global customers. The company employs a large workforce across a network of manufacturing and service businesses, offering opportunities in production, engineering, quality, supply chain, merchandising, technology, and corporate functions. An internship in production can provide practical exposure to factory operations, lean improvement, production planning, teamwork, and the standards expected in a modern export-oriented apparel organization.
Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, engineering, healthcare, and business services. The island has a diverse culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity widely represented. Life is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although Colombo is more expensive than smaller cities. The country provides beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic sites, and a warm tropical climate. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence authorization arranged with employer support; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Interns should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, taxes, and work authorization before relocating. Colombo has the widest professional network, while manufacturing roles may be based near Katunayake, Biyagama, or other industrial zones. English is common in business, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages.
