About the employer

Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, part of Marriott International, is an upscale lakeside resort in northern Thailand known for contemporary European-inspired design, local cultural influences, and relaxed luxury. The property welcomes leisure travelers, families, groups, and business guests, offering accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities, spa services, and recreational experiences. Le Méridien is a Marriott brand focused on inspiring discovery through art, design, cuisine, and local culture. Employees generally work in an international hospitality environment with access to Marriott training, career development, staff benefits, and opportunities to transfer within the wider hotel group. The resort’s location provides a quieter lifestyle than Bangkok or Phuket, while Chiang Rai’s temples, mountain scenery, markets, and neighboring communities create many opportunities for distinctive guest experiences.

Working in Thailand

Thailand offers varied hospitality opportunities across Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, and other island destinations, especially in hotels, resorts, restaurants, wellness, diving, events, and guest services. Chiang Rai is not an island; it is a peaceful northern city with mountain landscapes, temples, markets, and a lower cost of living. Thai culture places importance on politeness, respect, calm communication, and appropriate dress, particularly at temples. Island life is generally warm, social, and outdoors-oriented, but seasonal tourism can mean demanding work periods and higher rents. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit before starting employment; requirements vary by nationality and role. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation, meals, transport, medical coverage, or flights, so these benefits should be confirmed before relocation. Learning basic Thai and understanding local customs makes settling in much easier.
