Working in Indonesia

Lombok is an Indonesian island east of Bali, known for white-sand beaches, surfing, waterfalls, traditional Sasak culture, and Mount Rinjani. Hospitality is the main source of professional opportunity in resort areas such as Senggigi, Kuta Mandalika, Gili destinations, and northern Lombok. Jobs are commonly available in hotel operations, food and beverage, spa, engineering, sales, diving, and guest services, although senior roles often require strong English and international experience. Life is generally quieter and less expensive than Bali, with a relaxed community atmosphere, warm weather, motorbike-based transport, and growing but uneven infrastructure. Indonesia normally requires an appropriate work visa and work permit; visitors must not work on a tourist visa. Employers usually sponsor the required process for eligible foreign staff, while Indonesian citizens need standard employment documentation. Candidates should confirm medical insurance, housing, transport, taxes, contract terms, and relocation assistance before accepting an offer.
