About the employer

The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is a luxury island resort operated under Westin Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International. Located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the resort combines contemporary accommodation, wellness-focused services, restaurants, water activities, and personalized guest experiences in a tropical setting. Westin is known internationally for its wellbeing-oriented brand, including its signature Heavenly Bed, wellness programming, healthy dining concepts, and emphasis on restorative travel. Resort employees work in a highly international environment and support hotel operations across guest services, food and beverage, engineering, housekeeping, recreation, and administration. As a Marriott property, the resort generally follows structured hospitality standards, training practices, and service procedures. Employment packages for overseas staff may include accommodation, meals, transportation, medical support, and return airfare, although benefits depend on the employment contract and position.

Working in Maldives

The Maldives offers employment mainly in resorts, hospitality, marine recreation, construction, engineering, retail, transport, and tourism services. Resort islands provide a distinctive lifestyle: staff usually live in shared accommodation, receive meals, and work rotating shifts while enjoying beaches, diving, fishing, and water sports during free time. Local inhabited islands have a more traditional Muslim culture, so modest clothing and respect for Islamic customs are important outside resort areas. Alcohol is generally restricted to licensed resort properties. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work permit before starting employment; employers commonly arrange the process, medical checks, travel, and onboarding. Relocation involves adapting to remote island living, limited shopping, boat or seaplane transfers, and humid weather. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, leave, insurance, airfare, contract length, and visa responsibility in writing before accepting an offer.
