About the employer

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is a luxury island resort operated under Marriott International’s St. Regis brand. Located on Vommuli Island in the Dhaalu Atoll, the resort is known for private villas, refined dining, personalized butler service, wellness facilities, water activities, and high-end guest experiences. As part of Marriott’s global hotel portfolio, it follows established standards for service, safety, training, ethics, and operational quality. Resort employees work in a multicultural environment and support guests from around the world. Roles commonly include hospitality operations, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, recreation, finance, and back-of-house support such as stores and logistics. Employment packages for overseas associates may include staff accommodation, meals, transportation, medical support, annual leave, and service-charge participation, depending on the contract and local regulations.

Working in Maldives

The Maldives offers employment mainly in luxury resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving and watersports, aviation, construction, retail, healthcare, and business services. Resort life is international and structured, with staff accommodation, shared facilities, meals, and transport commonly provided, but employees may live away from the capital and local communities. Maldivian culture is shaped by Islam, island traditions, fishing, family life, and strong respect for modesty and local customs; alcohol is generally restricted outside licensed resorts. The lifestyle is tropical, scenic, and community-oriented, with access to beaches and marine activities, though remote-island living can feel quiet. Foreign workers need an employer-sponsored work permit and valid employment approval before working; tourist status does not permit employment. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, medical checks, airfare, contract terms, accommodation, leave, and return travel with the employer. Costs, connectivity, and services vary significantly between islands.
