Phuket offers employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, spas, diving, retail, transportation, construction and property services. Popular areas include Chalong, Rawai, Kata, Karon, Patong and Phuket Town, each offering different lifestyles and commuting options. Thai culture values politeness, respect for elders, modest behavior and a calm approach to communication. Island life combines beaches, outdoor activities and international dining with traffic, humid weather and seasonal tourism fluctuations. Foreign workers normally need a Thai employer to sponsor a Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but requirements should be confirmed with Thai authorities or an immigration specialist. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, transport, healthcare and initial living costs, and verify salary, accommodation, service charge, working hours and visa support before accepting an offer.
