Working in Maldives

The Maldives offers strong employment opportunities in luxury resorts, especially in hospitality, food and beverage, culinary arts, housekeeping, engineering, marine activities and guest services. Resort islands are international workplaces, while local inhabited islands have a more traditional Muslim culture, with modest dress and restrictions on alcohol outside designated resort areas. Life on a resort island is scenic but relatively remote, with work often including shared accommodation, meals, uniforms and recreational facilities. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and a valid Maldives Employment Approval or work permit; employers normally arrange much of the process, including medical checks and documentation. Candidates should confirm contract terms, benefits, flights, leave and permit arrangements before relocating. The climate is warm and tropical year-round, with wetter monsoon periods. Bring suitable work clothing, personal medicines and essential items, as remote-island shopping can be limited.
