About the employer

Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa is a beachfront luxury resort on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, close to Weligama’s famous surf break and within reach of Galle and other popular attractions. The resort is part of Marriott International, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, operating a broad portfolio of hotels and resorts across many countries. The property serves leisure travellers, families, groups, weddings and corporate guests, offering accommodation, restaurants, event facilities, recreational activities and spa services. Marriott places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, professional standards, ethical business practices and employee development. A Sales Executive at the resort would help grow local and international business while representing the property to travel partners, companies and event planners. Benefits may include meals, uniform, training, accommodation assistance or service charge, depending on the employment package.

Working in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, aviation, restaurants, technology, education, healthcare and international services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated in Colombo, the south coast, the Cultural Triangle and eastern beach destinations, with stronger seasonal demand during peak travel periods. The culture combines Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other traditions, with Buddhist influence, welcoming communities, colourful festivals and varied regional cuisine. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although Colombo and tourist areas can be more expensive. Beaches, wildlife parks, mountains and historic cities provide excellent leisure options. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa or residence approval before working; tourist visas do not permit employment. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, work authorisation, accommodation, insurance, tax treatment and relocation support with the employer. Sri Lanka has tropical weather, reliable mobile connectivity and improving transport, though traffic and occasional power or service interruptions can occur.
