Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hospitality, tourism, events, retail and business jobs. The culture is multicultural and influenced by Arab, Islamic and international traditions; respectful dress and behavior are expected, particularly during Ramadan. Dubai offers modern apartments, extensive shopping, beaches, restaurants and a lively expatriate lifestyle, although rent and transport can be expensive. Employers normally sponsor an employment entry permit, residence visa, medical examination and Emirates ID, subject to UAE regulations. Candidates should confirm that the employer covers visa and recruitment costs before accepting an offer. Relocation usually involves arranging accommodation, health insurance, banking and transport. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic knowledge is an advantage. UAE salaries are commonly tax-free on personal income, but living costs vary significantly by area and housing choice.
