Working in Qatar

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, but it offers a compact, modern Gulf lifestyle centered on Doha and nearby Lusail. Hospitality, construction, engineering, retail, aviation, healthcare and technology provide regular employment opportunities. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used at work. Local culture values modest dress, family life, hospitality and respect for Islamic customs; alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor malls, beaches and air-conditioned attractions shape daily life. Employers commonly sponsor work visas, arrange medical checks and issue residence permits, although the exact package should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Bring attested qualifications and employment documents, and verify accommodation, transport, insurance, leave and end-of-service terms. Public transport is improving through the Doha Metro, while taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available. Lusail offers modern apartments, restaurants and waterfront areas close to major workplaces.
