The Finance University Intern supports the hotel’s finance team with routine accounting, reporting, reconciliation, invoice processing, data entry, budgeting support and other administrative duties. Applicants should be enrolled in, or recently completing, a finance, accounting, business or hospitality-related university course. Strong numerical and organisational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, basic Microsoft Office knowledge and a willingness to learn are expected. The successful candidate should communicate professionally, work reliably within deadlines and cooperate effectively with colleagues across hotel departments. Previous hospitality or accounting experience may be helpful but is not essential. The role offers practical exposure to hotel finance operations in a professional working environment.
Marriott International is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, operating a broad portfolio of hotels and resorts across numerous brands, including Marriott Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton and more. The company focuses on delivering guest experiences through accommodation, dining, meetings, leisure and business travel services. Marriott promotes professional development, workplace inclusion and opportunities for employees to build careers across hotels and corporate functions. Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands is part of Marriott’s Australian operations and serves leisure and business travellers in the Docklands precinct, close to restaurants, offices, attractions and waterfront facilities. Hotel finance teams support the property by maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring revenue and expenses, assisting with compliance and providing information that helps managers make sound operational decisions.
Australia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, healthcare, technology, construction, education and skilled trades. Melbourne is multicultural, creative and known for cafés, sport, arts and live music, with a generally relaxed but professional workplace culture. The lifestyle includes excellent public transport, beaches, parks, food markets and easy access to regional destinations, although housing and daily expenses can be high. International students may work under the conditions attached to their student visa, while graduates and skilled professionals may explore Temporary Graduate, employer-sponsored or skilled migration pathways. Requirements vary by nationality, qualification and occupation, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs before travelling. Relocation usually involves securing a visa, accommodation, tax file number, bank account and health insurance. Australia is geographically large, and travel between cities can be expensive; Melbourne’s trams, trains and buses make local commuting relatively straightforward.
