The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a popular Gulf destination made up of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the widest range of hotel, tourism, facilities and construction jobs. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international expatriate community; modest dress, respect for Islam and awareness of local customs are important. Dubai provides a fast-paced lifestyle, modern transport, beaches, shopping and diverse restaurants, although accommodation and summer conditions can be challenging. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work visa. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and residency formalities, but contract details should be checked carefully. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, documents and initial expenses, verify accommodation and benefits, and use only legitimate recruitment channels. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic is the official language.
