Working in Thailand

Thailand offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, diving and wellness, particularly in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Island life is generally relaxed and community-oriented, with strong Buddhist traditions, welcoming social customs, vibrant markets and excellent food. Phuket and Koh Samui provide established international hospitality scenes, while smaller islands offer quieter lifestyles but fewer professional services and higher costs for imported goods. Bangkok is usually the strongest base for corporate MICE careers and transport connections. Foreign employees normally need a prospective employer to sponsor a Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation usually requires passport documents, qualifications, a medical check and local registration. Salaries may be lower than in some Western markets, but accommodation, transport and dining can be comparatively affordable. Research healthcare, housing, tax, insurance and seasonal weather before moving.
